TEDx events are independently organised, local versions of the TED conference - same format, same red dot, but run by communities around the world.
The theme of this year’s event was “Ithaka”, inspired by the Greek poem about Odysseus’s journey home. But it had a twist, focus was on how the journey to your Ithaka will change you rather than the destination itself.
That theme shaped everything. This talk is built around 5 Navigator Lessons I've picked up navigating uncharted waters from jumping into the English Channel at 2:18am, to climbing Kilimanjaro with food poisoning, to building a startup into a regulated bank.
The finish line is an illusion and the true prize is the character you forge during the struggle.

• Action beats reaction.
• No one has all the answers.
About Matt

This talk is the start of a bigger conversation about what it really means to navigate uncharted waters.
